Music
that I like. |

My Favorite MusicAs a teenager in the "Swinging Sixties" I am definitely of the Beatles/Tamala Motown era. I can remember listening to Radio Luxembourg for the "real" top twenty on the trannie I got for Christmas. Rubbish on BBC, Saturday Club and the like until Radio Caroline and it's allies caused the demise of the Light Programme and Home Service etc. All of a sudden in the mid to late Seventies, the music scene changed - or I did! Groups became bands, LPs became albums and when the performers? started to spit and piss on the audience - who loved it! I developed Van Gogh's ear for Pop music. When I started to listen to Classical music, I had the same Van Gogh's ear for opera. I always had difficulty in picking out the words of a song - Glen Campbells "Nine Stone Cowboy" puzzled me for years, also in my callow youth, Herman's Hermits - "She's a muscular boy" (She's a must to avoid) so what chance had I when they were singing in Italian or German (I think) I do like a good tune though, anything from Sousa marchs to James Galway on a Penny whistle. No music snob, the majority of time I have no idea who the composer is of the music I'm listening to. |
