My interest in computers

I first encountered computers when I entered the Training field as an instructor in Welding and Fabrication and in common with all newcomers to computers, have felt like the figure in the cartoon, totally overwhelmed by what I had to take in.
The centre wizard in the dark arts of computers, when asked by a newbie (me) to show them how to do a certain task on the computer, would zoom down, type in a command at lightning speed and immediately return to his eyrie leaving me no wiser. This irked me somewhat ! ! (rough translation into Yorkshire PlainSpeak - Yer ignorant b******d, tha could have waited for me to write it darn). Many hours of muttering and clanking away at the keyboard meant that I didn't have to ask His Eminence for help very often until eventually the day dawned when I took the first steps into Cyberspace. ![]() I think this image says it perfectly I'm no expert but have helped newbies when I can. I manage to do just about all needed with my setup including (with my heart in my mouth) taking the lid off when a major crash had duffed the computer up. |
